A do it yourself long term radon test canister costs $29.95.
* For short term testing services, a technician will come to your home to place the continuous radon monitor and give a brief consultation. After the test is complete, the test technician will return to your residence to retrieve the test device and print the results on site. If high radon levels are found, a mitigation proposal can also be given at that time.
Short term and long term test canisters can be delivered locally, or sent to you by mail. They include instructions on how to use them and the laboratory analysis. A long term test is anything lasting longer than 90 days.
For homeowners, the EPA and Minnesota Department of Health recommend starting with a short term test, and if high radon levels are found, then a follow up short term or long term test should be performed, depending on the radon level found.
